House Republican Leader insists on quick, thorough investigation of “swatting incident”

Request comes in response to press reports of a hoax phone call following the Secretary of State’s decision to exclude a popular presidential candidate from the ballot

AUGUSTA – House Republican Leader Billy Bob Faulkingham today called for a quick, thorough investigation of a “swatting incident” reported by Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows. The reported incident came after her unilateral decision to exclude former President Donald J. Trump from the Republican primary ballot.

In a letter to Public Safety Commissioner Michael Sauschuck, Faulkingham wrote:

“Recognizing that Secretary Bellows’ extraordinary action possibly alters the future of our Republic, it is paramount that those investigating this matter act transparently. Therefore, we insist a quick and thorough investigation of this swatting incident, updated when appropriate, and after completion the facts and circumstances be provided to the public.”
