Representative H. Sawin Millett Jr. of Waterford is currently serving his ninth, non-consecutive, term in the Maine House.  Sawin is the Republican lead on both the Appropriations & Financial Affairs and Government Oversight Committees.  Rep. Millett has previously served on the Joint Standing Committee on Education and Cultural Affairs.

Sawin’s varied career includes service as a teacher, coach, principal, assistant superintendent, farmer, and state commissioner.  He has served under Governors Longley, Brennan, McKernan, King, and LePage.  Millett’s extensive community service has included membership the Masons, Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, and the Society for the Protection of Animals. He has also been a Selectman.

Rep. Millett earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Bates College in 1959, and his Masters in Education degree from the University Maine in 1961.
