Representative Irene Gifford of Lincoln is serving her second term in the Maine House representing District 28, which includes the towns of Maxfield, North Penobscot, Seboeis Plantation, Edinburg, Enfield, Howland, Lagrange, Lincoln, Mattamiscontis, and Mattamiscontis Township. She currently serves the 132nd Legislature’s Joint Standing Committee on Marine Resources.
Rep. Gifford graduated from Matanawcook Academy, then went on to study cosmetology. She has worked for 46 years in different shops. Today she rents her own booth and continues her trade full time.
Irene was married to Jeffery Allen Gifford for 57 years. Jeffery preceded her as State Representative in the 130th Legislature. Together, Irene and Jeffery raised 3 children, have 8 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. In their free time, Irene and Jeffery enjoyed cruising all over the United States on their Goldwing motorcycle. Irene rode on the back for over 150,000 miles throughout their marriage.
