Representative Perkins named Lead on Government Oversight Committee

STATEHOUSE – State Representative Chad Perkins (R-Dover-Foxcroft) has been appointed Republican Lead on the 132nd Maine Legislature’s Government Oversight Committee. This high-profile committee will focus on several important issues this session.

“Waste, fraud and abuse steals hard-earned money from taxpayers and sustenance from people that depend on government programs that serve as a common sense, social safety net,” said Rep. Perkins. “With MaineCare shortfalls and excessive state taxation, it is imperative that we root out fraud, waste, and abuse. I am committed to this issue and fully investigating the tragic deaths of children in state custody.”

The Government Oversight Committee (GOC) consists of 6 members of the Senate and 6 members of the House of Representatives and must be evenly divided between the 2 largest political parties represented in each chamber. The mission of the committee is to oversee program evaluation and government accountability matters in State government.
