Maine State Capitol

STATE HOUSE – Rep. Shelley Rudnicki (R-Fairfield) today announced that the American Journey Experience, a traveling exhibit presented by the WallBuilders Pro-Family Legislative Network, will be on display at the Maine State Capitol on March 16, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Hall of Flags.

The educational pop-up museum features a curated collection of rare, original American historical artifacts that bring the nation’s founding story to life as the United States approaches the celebration of its 250th anniversary.

“This is a unique opportunity for legislators, staff, students, and visitors to experience pieces of American history firsthand,” said Rep. Rudnicki. “These artifacts help tell the story of our nation’s founding principles, the challenges our country has overcome, and the role faith and civic responsibility have played throughout our history.”

The exhibit is designed to give attendees direct engagement with primary historical materials that illustrate the ideas, struggles, and leadership that shaped the United States.

Exhibit Highlights

Artifacts scheduled to be displayed include:

  • A 1599 Geneva Bible used by the Pilgrims
  • A page from the Eliot Bible, the first Bible printed in America
  • The 1782 Aitken Bible, the only Bible officially endorsed by the U.S. Congress
  • George Washington’s personal items, including his signature and a land surveying compass
  • A first draft of the Declaration of Independence
  • Historical artifacts connected to Abraham Lincoln, Benjamin Franklin, and other influential figures

A portion of the exhibit also highlights the historical role of faith in the development of American civic life.
