As your State Representative it is my duty to make sure the community members of House District 3 are aware of the upcoming November 7th 2023 Referendum Election. Some Maine residents are unaware this vote is coming in less than 3 months, so here is a quick reminder.
“Referendum Elections are held to give Maine’s Citizens an opportunity to vote on People’s Vote Referenda, Direct Initiation of Legislation, Bond issues, other referenda proposed by the legislature, and Constitutional Amendments.” – Maine Bureau of Corporations, Elections, & Commissions. On Thursday, July 27th 2023 the Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows and Deputy Secretary of State for Corporations, Elections and Commissions Julie Flynn determined the order of the questions on the November 2023 ballot through a public lottery.
Not only is it important to find your local polling place, secure a time and plan to vote, or request an absentee ballot, it is also essential to know each question in detail to cast the vote that is right for you, your family, and our community.
There will be eight questions on the ballot. To view the questions, please contact your local municipality, call the Secretary of State’s office at (207) 626-8400, or contact my office at (207) 287-1440 to have the list of questions sent to you.
I am always looking for more ways to bring community involvement to Aroostook County and I would love to hear your thoughts on the referendum questions. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions, comments, or concerns regarding any legislative or state matter.
