STATE HOUSE– Rep. Michael Lemelin (R-Chelsea) announced today that his bill to promote the safety, dignity, and comfort of individuals with multiple disabilities during MaineCare transport will have a Public Hearing Wednesday.
LD 825 – “An Act Relating to Transportation Services for MaineCare Members with Multiple Disabilities”,” The bill requires that transportation services provided to members of the MaineCare program who have multiple disabilities ensure that a vehicle transporting the MaineCare member is equipped in a manner that accommodates the member’s disabilities safely, ensure that the driver is physically capable of assisting the member in the event of an emergency and, to the extent possible, provide consistency in drivers.
“Our second duty as loving, caring, human beings is to look after those who cannot do for themselves without some assistance from us,” said Rep.
